A Magnificent Uplift

The near vertical sedimentary deposits of San Pedro Rock date back to an ancient sea that formed these layers 60 million years ago in the Paleocene age.

These layers have been pushed upright by the movement of the Pacific Continental Plate moving northward and uplifting portions of the North American Plate.
